6 days (on ankle surgery prep)

It’s a little less than a week until my foot/ankle surgery. I feel like I’ve lost the thread between all my lists and what needs to be done before this happens and what is feasible to get done before all this happens.

Between trying to land cleaning out my aunt’s house that’s 90 minutes away  and getting it on the market by the end of the month - and doing her taxes - and getting all of LM’s spring and summer clothes and dance competition stuff prepared and this wild season at work with everything going on and with everything literally going on all the time, I feel like I’m all over the place (as is this too apt run on sentence, haha).

Yard statues have been rescued!

Here are some hot takes on where I’m at:

Pros:

  • I have a recliner to sleep/recover in
  • I have a wedge pillow to elevate my foot (and it fits on said recliner!)
  • I have a knee scooter (with a bell) (and a personalized license plate haha)
  • I got my aunt’s taxes done on time
  • I’ll have time to go back in everyone’s blog history and better understand backstories
  • Lil Momma and I are going to have a together day on Saturday and then meet up with the Mr. for dinner out
  • My little family has gotten my aunt’s house as empty as it can be and the minor work that’s being done is being done
  • Work will be there when I get back from this

Cons:

  • We don’t find out what time the surgery is at until Friday, so we do not have a solid “get Lil Momma to and from school” plan for the day of
  • I am not responding to text messages in a timely manner
  • I have to somehow find time to drive to my aunt’s tax place (90 minutes away) to sign her taxes
  • I am so worried about my hair during these initial 2 weeks after surgery (and have been stress shopping solutions yikes)
  • All the decisions about my aunt’s house need to be made this week
  • Work will be there when I get back from this

Seriously, though, I’m doing what I can to be as ready as I can and that’s enough. Here’s to getting past this and onto the next bit!

Any books I should add to my holds for my time off? Any shows I should dive into?

  1. I know everything is chaotic right now, but I'm excited for your surgery so that you can get this in the rearview mirror.

Show wise, I just saw We Were the Lucky Ones on Hulu, and I'm reading the book now. I just started season 3 of White Lotus and as soon as I finish it I will be tearing into The Last of Us and The Pitt.

  2. OMG I would 100% be worried about my hair as well. Eeee that gives me stress just thinking about it! Like the rest isn't stress-inducing enough, put hair stuff on top of it? Yikes. Anyway, best of luck getting it all done!

  3. Honestly, I feel like you are KNOCKING THIS OUT OF THE PARK. You have so much planned and prepped. A bell and license plate? I know the surgery sucks, but that is too adorable!
I am all about True Crime...or Great British Baking Show. Those are my two go-tos for watching. Reading? Well, I rated books in January and February on my blog (with starred reviews) and I have 6 more dropping tomorrow.
All The Light We Cannot See is an amazing book and it does have a mini-series on Netflix (it was fine, but not as good as the book). A Gentleman in Moscow is one of my fav books and it also has a show (haven't seen it).

  4. Uff, so much to do, so little time... but you'll get done what you need to get done. That I am sure of!

  5. It sounds like you have just about everything under control. I know this isn't going to be fun, but I'm picturing you scooting around, gleefully ringing your bell, and it makes me smile.
Everything that hasn't been worked out yet, will be. I'm happy this is finally happening so you can start the recovery and- eventually- put this all behind you.
I don't have any show recs, but my son has been nagging me to watch Severance. He says it's incredible, so I would try that (if you haven't already.)

  6. I understand there must be a lot to prepare and think of before surgery. You seem to be well organised though, and everything else CAN be managed later - by someone else?
I'm glad for you that you finally get this done but I know it will be a frustrating time for a while.

  7. It's wild that you are dealing with everything with your aunt's home/taxes WHILE preparing for a surgery like this! I feel like you have prepared as well as you can and now it's time to just get it over with so you can be on the other side of this.

For shows, Suits could be a good option. Only Murders in the Building. Abbott Elementary, Brooklyn 99, and New Girl if you need a laugh!
