Leap Day Currentlys

I was inspired by   San   and wanted to share some of my currentlys today, too!   ENJOYING  / some fun nail color that Lil Momma and I got done over Feb vacation. I have never been a “nails” person (it always felt like my fingers were suffocating), but this time hasn’t been that bad and I appreciated them shaping them.   EATING  / I’m in the office 2-3 days a week and if I pack and bring my lunch like I am supposed to, I’ve been having my favorite Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups on one day and a fun coffee on the other (apple crisp oat milk shaken espresso… mmmm!). It’s been a nice way to incentivize getting everything ready the night before.   SAVORING  / This may sound weird, but last week I started a new workout plan (aka “little things done consistently are better than big things done once or twice”) and it’s honestly been really gratifying to feel a little sore from working out. Maybe it’s because I’ve felt “injured” for years – and I’m still learning to navigate what is “pain” vs “s

School vacation week is wild, haha! The Mr and I “divided and conquered” (although, I think Lil Momma is the one winning!) and I’m picking up after his early week bowling, roller skating, and friends at the arcade activities for a couple of girls shopping and hang out days!  Recently on social media, I saw this “trend” where people are directed to search for specific terms on Pinterest and share what the first results are as a kind of algorithm-based self-assessment . Now, I only Pinterest in times of need ( the night before a hair appointment, a quote emergency, birthday bake ideas, etc. ), but I had to try it and see what I got back: It’s wild, right? I feel eerily seen and intrigued by what “patterns” pop up from what and how and when I search for things (but, also slightly weirded out by that).  Did you see or do this trend? Did it get you or was it wildly off?

One  It’s a chop, but not a wild one! And, an explanation (which was more of a win, haha!)… I had gone to the same place to get my hair done for 10 years up until 2 years ago. When they dyed my hair, it would burn my scalp and I’d get a rash on my forehead and ears, but they said it was just because I was sensitive. Apparently, the dye was too intense chemically and impacted my curl pattern as well. SO, my stringy, knotty, gross ends were the damage from those years, while the hair above is healthier because of the better for me dye I get at the place I have now.  I HAD 2 DIFFERENT CURL PATTERNS GOING ON ON THE SAME STRANDS OF HAIR?!?!?!  No wonder it / I was a mess. My mind was blown! I told her to cut off all the damage and am so much happier with it. Though, it still doesn’t work for day 2 in office, so I guess my next adventure will be to see if my roots stay mostly bearable if I’m washing my hair 2-3 times midweek…   Two  Next week is school vacation here.  February Vacation isn’t

ten thoughts from a snow day

Some thoughts from a February snow day for my girl and work from home day for me and her dad   One  “Why is Lil Momma up so early when we didn’t have to get up?”   Two “Is my hair too wild for video calls or can I hide it with my headset?”   Three “Thank goodness cinnamon toast felt fancy enough.”   Four “I am so glad the Mr and I aren’t doing Valentines because I didn’t get anything.”   Five “So much for checking my technology for that big meeting tomorrow.”   Six “Yay for friends who take my girl sledding.”   Seven “I will give myself grace for having the Mr get himself a card from Lil Momma since I thought we weren’t doing Valentines.”   Eight “I don’t know why I am so exhausted  at 4pm .”   Nine “I only have  until Friday  to finish one of my library books and I am not enjoying reading it but I have to finish it for a challenge”   Ten “I am so glad we can have family dinner and a cozy night and early bedtime.”     The storm was less than expected, so we only had 5 inches of the w

to chop or not to chop?

This was the first week with everyone a certain level and above   going back into the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays   and oof, it was a lot. I have been going in on Tuesdays and Thursdays for well over a year – the Mr thought I should get out of the house more and the change in scenery and ability to “leave” work did me good – but, this change of energy with so many people and so much noise and all the wild energy and feelings coming off everyone about the change was exhausting…   …and, then there’s my hair.   My hair washing schedule worked really well with my Tues / Thurs in office days. For context, I have curly hair down barely to my shoulders. I treat my curls with fear and respect. I try to only wash my hair 2-3 times a week as not to wash all the $$ I spend on dyeing it down the drain and not to dry out my curls. On days where I don’t wash it, half the time I end up spraying it down with water and recurling it (even though they don’t look amazing, it still looks like a cho

It’s finally February, am I right? Look at these poor, confused bulbs popping up in my front garden, sigh. I know the groundhog said spring is nigh, but I have a feeling winter isn’t done with us here in the New England just yet!   I thought I’d share how my January intentions / hopes panned out and then talk about what I’m hoping to do in February:   January Figures :   Working out / intentional movement at least 10 days  =  8/10  (not bad at all!)   I think for now, intentional walks will count as workouts as I build up endurance and the habit of it. I’ll revisit in April when I have more of a base (maybe I’ll attempt the Cool Bloggers  12-3-30 ?!?!)   1 core/lower back strength workout I found on Google and then the rest were all Peloton ( trying to add up those minutes! ): 5 walks (2 of them slow after tweaking my back at Lil Momma’s chorus concert last week), 2 hike, 1 Arms & Light Weights, 1 Shoulder Mobility, & 2 Yoga Focus Flow Hips     Average 5K steps per day I end
