show time!

Sometimes, it’s the week after a run of busy weeks that gets you…..   Lil Momma’s Show Recap To   recap the reason for the recap, Lil Momma was fighting a mighty case of the sads after New Year’s. Her musical theater school had an audition-only bonus show that rehearsed on the weekends that LM went back and forth about auditioning for. She finally decided to go for it and got in! (Only 20/60 kids got in and she was 1 of only 3 kids not on the competition team who did….)   Things got pretty hectic in the week or so before the show and with her other extracurriculars, LM had a run of 12 straight days without a break. Between dress and tech rehearsals for this production of  Dear Edwina , her regularly scheduled dance classes 3x a week, and bonus dance for her competition duo, we were doing our best to focus on recovery at home (hydration, fueling, sleep).    What’s Dear Edwina about?”  you may be asking… Well, per  Wikipedia : “ Dear Edwina  is a  musical  by  Zina Goldrich  (music) an

Lil Momma has some ad hoc dance classes (during tech week for her show?!?) to learn her competition lyrical duo, so I thought I’d live blog my mental tangents from here in the waiting room… I’m usually in my pajamas right now  Tomorrow is a half day of school 7:15pm is so late to be out and about  I hope the costume I ordered for this fits  LM looks like such a big kid <<internal sob>> The dog is probably going to give me a guilt trip when I get home  There’s the other mom asking if I can bring her kid back; oof, night driving to strange houses Do I have anything for lunch tomorrow? Tomorrow is a half day of school I wonder if it will be warmer tomorrow  I wish I brought a snack. Or a water.  We need to be at dress rehearsal by 3:45 tomorrow which means we need to leave at 3:30 which means I need to get her ready at 3 which means I need to leave the office by 2:15 at the latest which means I need to leave the office by 2 at the latest because    busses I hope the Mr is ha

five friday rambles

One  This week has been oof. I don’t know if it was  residual tired from the time change, a wild work week where I had to be in office an extra day (and extra early) to co-lead a workshop, or just a really full brain and not enough sleep. Or, all 3?   Two  To jump back a week, Lil Momma and I saw  Frozen  the musical  at a theater in Rhode Island last Friday night. She loved, loved, loved it! I went in thinking I would be lukewarm about it, but ended up really enjoying how they translated it to the stage – and, SVEN WAS THE COOLEST THING EVER!!! Next season, this theater has a handful of shows that LM, the Mr. and I would all really enjoy and I’m hoping to lean into experience presents and keep this going. Three  We did have one  awkward   theater   experience , though, that keep haunting me. LM and I were spread out a bit because our friends who were supposed to join us could not, so I was on the aisle and LM was spaced out a seat from me. In rest of the row was full, with a woman

february figures

A quick look at how my February hopes figured out and what I’m hoping to do in March!   February Figures : Working out / intentional movement at least 15 days  =  15/15!!! I had this whole realization that I am a happier person when I move my body, but when I am down (which makes sense right now), I may have to just do the things even when I’m not feeling like it. Which, shockingly (or not really shockingly, haha), made a huge difference during a really wild work month. Average 5K steps per day  =  5 , 002 WOOHOO! I finally made it! I am sure my return to the office a few days a week pushed me over, but I have also been trying to move more through my days.  Average less than 8 hours of phone screen time per day  =  still too much I am trying to give myself grace in that I’ve been navigating a lot of big feelings and bad weather, but hope to make some movement in this space in March with a better approach to my usual doomscrolling moments  Stick to a skincare regimen  =  29/29 There wer
