fifteen FIGs to end February

Image
This month, I tell ya! <<gestures to the state of the world>> Work getting worse before it gets better. My first paper in my MLIS program. February school vacation with the week after having no school because of a blizzard. So much overwhelm. So much functional freeze. AND the   February FIG challenge   that has been such a bright light. Here are my final FIGs of the challenge, which include some stories about being back in school, parenting, puppies, and smiles. 14   How well Lil Momma did when school was canceled for the entire week after February vacation (sigh, thanks Blizzard of 2026 and the 30+ inches of snow in my backyard). School vacations are hard for only children and then to have another week off while the Mr. and I had to work was rough - but, she totally rallied! One day, we made a deal if she got 10k steps on the treadmill she could have ice cream for dessert, 12k and she could have fast food for dinner, and 15k to choose what we watched on tv fo...

a baker’s dozen of FIGs

Image
Friends, work and parenting and taking a class and being a human in this world is a lot.   I’m a little behind on a lot and a lot behind on a little. I’m haunted by tasks. I may have taken on too much, but the only way out is through.  I am loving the class I’m taking and I’m not loving the fact that I have not yet been able to get a week ahead in assignments. I know this is not exactly the format of the  February FIG challenge , but it’s where my heart is at and I think that is FIG-gy enough.  One  I’m taking  Introduction to the Information Professions  and this week’s chapter was all about the history of libraries and I really loved it.  Two  Work has been so oof but my work best friend and I have been randomly sending what we call “memes of hope and solidarity” throughout the day and they really help me keeping going through these long days.  Three  Maysie is just the best. She’s 50 lbs of love and joy (and jumping) (trai...

unexpected delivery

Maysie came to us with very little information; all they handed her over with just a folder of vaccine records. From our prior conversations, we had asked what food she was eating and I spent some serious time on the Google seeing if it available locally (no) or if I could get it added into our senior population dog’s auto-shipment from Chewy (also no). Finally, I found it a bag at a Walmart a ways away, but we knew we needed a more sustainable plan.  After the first weeks of chaos, I ordered a bag of food from Chewy to see if we could slowly make the switch for Maysie and then set up the auto-ship. After a messy week where we discovered she just didn’t like her original food but loved, loved, loved this new one, I went back into the app and set up the recurring order.  A week later, I received an email that the package had been delivered. It wasn’t on our side deck, nor on our front steps. It was downpouring and dark, but the Mr went outside to see if they left it in o...

NaBloPoMo cheer squad

alternate title: NaBloPoMoFOMO I really considered joining this year. I boomarked San’s post ! I made a list of prompts. I started writing in advance. I felt both excited and scared.  Then, I considered how life had been the past few weeks / months. My mind spiraling from work. Navigating so much school drama with Lil Momma. This ankle injury literally dragging me down.  In meeting myself where I’m at, I think my energy may be better placed as a super consistent commenter / informal cheer squad .   My November goals are to: - Comment on 5+ NaBloPoMo posts each day trying to spread the comments to different - and new! - blogs along with those already on my regular reading list  -Use some of my prompt list to try out some short form posts here 2x a week to help me get in a better flow in 2025 - Look for some glimmers in November . Take pictures when something brings me joy. Be a present person.  I love NaBloPoMo! It’s what made me want to start blogging and leav...
