F.I.G. Friday #3

 I am doubling down on Finding Joy in Gratitude Collective challenge Elisabeth is running and both keeping short joys on the tracker and sharing longer ones here on Fridays this month! (or forever?)

Same, Junior. Same. 


Saturday: Lil Momma and I went to see Pippin where she takes musical theatre lessons and even though I hadn’t seen the show in YEARS, I knew the verse they did for the audience sing-a-long like I’d just listened to it. It’s so lovely to be reminded of the theatre person I was every now and again in this other life that I live.

 

Sunday: I sat on a couch and finished The God of the Woods with a cup of tea and it was just so quiet and wonderful to just be.

 

Monday: I helped someone at work with a presentation and felt so in my zone with the feedback I was able to share! (Not sure if it was heard, but that’s a whole other thing, haha!)

 

Tuesday: Lil Momma and I had a wonderful day off for February Vacation and attempted faux stained glass with clear glue, food coloring, puffy paint, and the glass from picture frames and it was wonderful to both have no idea what I was doing and to be creative with no pressure for it to look good. 

 

Wednesday: Lil Momma had received a Ninja Creami for her birthday in August, but we just hadn’t gotten making an ice cream with it right – until tonight!! I bought her a white chocolate and peppermint protein powder and we crushed up chocolate covered pretzels and somehow it all worked and she LOVED her protein-filled yet slightly decadent treat!

 

Thursday: After a week of phone tag, I was able to book my ankle surgery. Having the date is the FIG, but also is being able to plan out what I need to do before (finish cleaning out my aunt’s house, get a recliner, work on pistol squats haha, etc.).

 

Friday: Lil Momma and I had another vacation day together and we went to the library and then got fun drinks (chai for me, fruity for her) and chatted about our books and life. Just the best!!

    You have a date! I'm sure it is still daunting, but knowing exactly when it's happening will help other things fall into place.

    Your Sunday - tea, couch, book = heavenly. That's how I spent a chunk of my Sunday afternoon, too. 10/10 recommend! (I'm still on the holds list for GOTW, though - it is SUCH a long wait.)

    Aw, I love these. Your library date with Lil sounds wonderful. Does she have the whole week off? That's not a thing down here- we didn't even have President's Day off. When is you ankle surgery? And maybe I missed it- what exactly is going to be done??? I sure hope this resolves the issues.

    Oh this is such a nice list! Love the time you spent with your kiddo. And hooray for having a date for the surgery in the books! Being able to plan around something specific can be so calming and/or galvanizing.

    I love your relationship with your daughter. It reminds me of the relationship I had with my mom at that age. (It was not without the typical angst and my mom likes to joke about the time I wrote "I Hate My Mom" on my dresser, lol, but that's the way it goes sometimes!)

    I had one of those mornings where I got to sit on the couch, sip coffee, and finish a book. Delightful!

  I am having one of   those work weeks that just beat you up . Vague asks that do n’t make sense, changing timelines and details, being behind the ball but not having any way to get ahead… Sigh, this is not when I shine. However, I had my personal pity party last night and am trying to let the stress go and do what I can do with what I have when I have it.   For this week, I wanted to ramble away about  Lil Momma’s audition for a special production class  at her musical theater school as it took up most of our energy last weekend:   Lil Momma went in strong on Saturday am and was so ready with her bit of song and good attitude. february figures

A quick look at how my February hopes figured out and what I’m hoping to do in March!   February Figures : Working out / intentional movement at least 15 days  =  15/15!!! I had this whole realization that I am a happier person when I move my body, but when I am down (which makes sense right now), I may have to just do the things even when I’m not feeling like it. Which, shockingly (or not really shockingly, haha), made a huge difference during a really wild work month. Average 5K steps per day  =  5 , 002 WOOHOO! I finally made it! I am sure my return to the office a few days a week pushed me over, but I have also been trying to move more through my days.  Average less than 8 hours of phone screen time per day  =  still too much I am trying to give myself grace in that I’ve been navigating a lot of big feelings and bad weather, but hope to make some movement in this space in March with a better approach to my usual doomscrolling moments  Sti...

to chop or not to chop?

  This was the first week with everyone a certain level and above   going back into the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays   and oof, it was a lot. I have been going in on Tuesdays and Thursdays for well over a year – the Mr thought I should get out of the house more and the change in scenery and ability to “leave” work did me good – but, this change of energy with so many people and so much noise and all the wild energy and feelings coming off everyone about the change was exhausting…   …and, then there’s my hair.   My hair washing schedule worked really well with my Tues / Thurs in office days. For context, I have curly hair down barely to my shoulders. I treat my curls with fear and respect. I try to only wash my hair 2-3 times a week as not to wash all the $$ I spend on dyeing it down the drain and not to dry out my curls.
