doomscrolling alternatives
It’s so easy to fall into the endless scroll…
…but, there are walks to be walked with Maysie
The Mr and I have been trying to find pockets of time to spend time together - a wild ask in this season of life - and the one successful opportunity so far has been to take morning walks at the pond down the road before work on days Maysie doesn’t go to daycare. It’s been lovely getting out together and the fall foliage, even in weather, makes it even better.
…but, there are muscles to be built.
Getting back to strength work has felt impossible. I either go too-much-too-fast and set myself back or am not consistent enough to get past the newness of it or lost in what I actually should be doing. YouTube did me a solid and I landed on a 2 day a week basic set of exercises that can be done in 30 minutes - and as a bonus bonus, some of them are on my list of back PT moves I should be doing anyway.
…but, sleeping doesn’t have to be a fight.
In looking at some of my less than helpful habits, my frantic brain keeping me up at night is high up the list. Wild thoughts lead to panic wake ups and then the scrolling when I can’t get back to sleep. I’ve been trying magnesium to help me actually fall asleep, which has been amazing, and then the Brick blocks most apps on my phone overnight which makes it easier to just go back to sleep if I wake up. I still have work stress wake ups and don’t always fall asleep immediately, but I’m definitely doing better than I was.
Here’s to better managed screen time and some self-care wins!

Whenever I find myself scrolling through my phone, I remember that there are over 1000 books published every week and the least I could do is try to read one of them!
